It's been 100 years since Ash's time in Kanto, and pokemon from other regions have been introduced to the region. Eleven friends start their journey from Pallet Town, ready to befriend new pokemon and have their own fun adventure.
Chapter 1
It was a beautiful may Kanto day, only about two-and-a-half clouds in the sky, and Mazz was sitting at home, browsing the internet on her mobile phone. Suddenly, she heard a crash echo through her house and her mother stumbled in, carrying a silver box with holes on the lid and a purple bow. Mazz quickly set her phone on the coffee table and rushed to her mom. "What's that," Mazz said. "Is that for me?"
Mazz's mom nodded and carefully handed her daughter the silver box.
The teen vigorously tore the bow off the gift and opened the lid. With a bark, a small gray puppy-like pokemon hopped out and into her arms. "A poochyena!" Mazz screamed.
"Yep! Remember, it knows howl and tackle right now, and it's level five. Please don't forget that. Remember to feed it. Have fun."
"My first pokemon!" Mazz grinned. She had been begging her mom for months to go on a pokemon journey with her friends, and now she could.
"Get a pokedex from Professor Maple," ordered Mazz's mom. You probably don't want it, but you can use it to check what level your pokemon are and what moves they know. Now go! Stay safe, remember to eat, don't die, and here's a backpack." The woman tossed Mazz a blue backpack, which she strapped firmly onto her back.
Mazz waved good-bye and went to Professor Maple's lab to get a pokedex and meet up with her friends.
---
At the lab, the entire group of friends was there. Fry came in right after Mazz, because Fry had not been informed that they were meeting there. Everyone chatted excitedly, waiting for Professor maple to give them their pokemon. (Except Mazz, who already had her fabulous poochyena.)
"Oh my god, how'd you get that poochyena? Can I pet it?" Scruffy said.
"My mom gave it to me," Mazz explained. "And sure." Scruffy reached out her hand to let the gray pokemon sniffed it, but it snarled and she retaliated. Mazz rubbed Poochyena's head gently. "Little guarddog, eh?"
Not long after, a woman in a white labcoat entered the room. She twirled dramatically around and spoke. "Hello, small group of teenagers! Are you ready to start your adventure?" Everyone cheered. "Awesome. Typically, we give everyone a charmander, bulbasaur, or squirtle, but we are out of those, so pick a pokeball from that shelf over there." She twirled around and pointed in a strange pose to a shelf to the right of the group. She then fell over. Kitty helped her up, and the professor muttered a thank you. "Wait a minute, though, before you all go hastily over. Let me take a good look at you." She paced back and forth in front of them.
"Professor Maple gives me the creeps," said Cas.
"Same," replied Bennie.
"You're all quite older than most of the trainers starting their journey. Especially you..." She stopped in front of Dev and glared deeply into her eyes. "I typically see ten year olds come in here. But then again, I typically give out traditional kanto starters and typically do not wear hiking boots." She motioned to the boots she was wearing.
"Stop saying typically so much," Scruffy snapped.
"This chick is annoying," Will muttered.
The professor cleared her throat and again pointed to the shelf, "You may go now. Don't fight."
Some of them ran, and some of them walked over to the shelf. Dev tripped over Splodey and they began to snap at each other and blame each other for past misfortunes. "No, it's your fault that vigoroth almost killed us when I was twelve!" hissed Splodey. Mazz had to break them apart.
Liz was the first one to reach the shelf, and picked a pokeball from the top of the shelf. "Go, whatever you are!" She threw the pokeball, and a small owl-shaped pokemon appeared.
She hugged her new hoothoot and it hopped onto her shoulder.
Next was Zac, whom she was dating. He picked the one next to the pokeball she'd picked. What he saw was not pink.
It was gray.
It was not a jigglypuff.
He collapsed to his knees and wailed, "NOOOO! I wanted a jigglypuffffff!" Liz put her hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
Then, it was Kitty's turn. She rolled her shoulders, a bit jealous that Zac had gotten a feline pokemon. She grabbed a pokeball that seemed a little darker than the others and let the pokemon out.
"what" she said, staring at the Axew. The Axew cocked its head and jumped at her, hugging her. "Aw, cute!"
Bennie and Fry chose their's next.
Fry's was a rather handsome growlithe.
Bennie tossed her pokeball, and a small brown pokemon lept out.
"" she said.
"That is an eevee," called the professor.
"I know that, you bitch," muttered Bennie under her breath, and pet her new pokemon.
Scruffy looked through her shelf until she foudn the pokeball that she was convinced was lucky. She threw it and a shinx popped out.
"YES!" purred Scruffy.
Cas was next, and he pressed the button on a pokeball rather than throwing it. A very fluffy yellow thing greeted him.
"Hello."
Dev and Splodey finally stepped forward, pushing each other to get to the shelf. Before they could, Will grabbed one of the three left and tossed it.
A rather quiet lillipup was staring at him with big eyes.
"Awesome," said Will, picking up the dog pokemon.
Splodey slapped Dev's hand and grabbed at the pokeball she'd been trying to get at. She released the pokemon inside.
"What the fuck? Noooo!"
Dev laughed in her expense and let the last pokemon out. It was hers. Her pokemon. Not Splodey's. She had not gotten the zubat. She had won.
A meowth sat in front of her.
"I am happ now."
