I'm bored and love my digimon so much so here's a kiumon drabble, a casual day in the life if he were real:
We were in a land called Lunar City, an urban area that was a bustle of activity. This city is quite large for a digimon city but functions more as a small country. Lunar City is an oligarchy, much like my home, America. Six lekismon, four crescemon and a dianamon who believe to hold the power of the physical world’s moon lead this town and its forty thousand digimon (and human) citizens.
And I love it, for all its brightness and excitement. And Kiumon loves it too.
He sat by me on a bench, as we watched half a dozen rookie and in-training digimon play softball in the park ahead of us. Kiumon yawned and rested his head on my shoulder. I pet him gently on his head, scratching behind his ears. He closed his eyes and made a sound similar to that of a real-world fox’s chirpy meow.
“I want to visit your world someday,” He said. “Will you let me come with you next time you go back?”
“Sure, Kiu. We can do that.” I said. I was sure there’d be a way to hide him from the other humans that didn’t know about digimon.
Kiumon then jumped off of the bench and stretched his arms. “I’m hungry! Let’s go to a café!” He ran off before I could respond. Following him, I reached into my pockets to check how many bits I had. This currency of the digital world was very different from US dollars but easy to achieve through doing union quests. We hadn’t done one in a while, as we were vacationing in Lunar City for the day and there was no tamer union here.
I’d exchanged a lot of bits for USD recently and now I only had forty-seven bits, which was probably close to seven dollars. I probably had enough to just buy us some ice cream.
Walking slower than Kiumon, I took in the sights. Long had I awaited seeing the real digital world. This wasn’t a video game, or the anime, or the manga. Its similarities to human cities was outstanding, except of course the obvious addition of digimon. I saw a girl and her partner, a tortomon, training with a greymon across the street. I watched a biyomon fly above us, and a pagumon crying to her mother blackgarurumon about a bully from the group that had been playing softball.
Kiumon, of course, reached the café first. He sat down swiftly at one of the outside tables. “What should we eat?” He asked me excitedly.
“I have enough for maybe an ice cream each for us. What flavor do you want?”
“Pick for me!” The fox digimon barked.
“Okay,” I said. I walked into the café and spoke to the human man working there. Many humans who had gone missing in the real world had actually relocated to the digital world to spend their lives there. Some even brought their families. “Can I have one cup of vanilla ice cream and one of digiberry?”
I brought our ice cream to our table after paying. “What’s this?” Asked Kiumon.
“Digiberry.” I said. I’d never had digiberries myself but knew the small pink berries were probably similar to blueberries or cherries.
“Oh. Yum!” He stabbed his spoon into the dessert. “We need to find a town with a union sometime this week. Something that pays lots of bits.”
“Yeah, yeah, let’s just eat for now.” I said, beginning to eat mine. “I can always just exchange USD for bits if we want money.”
“Oh, come on! Where’s the fun in that?” Kiumon said with a smirk. “Besides, don’t waste your human money on the digital world. You need it there more.”
“Yeah, I suppose so.” I said.
“Thanks for the ice cream.” Kiumon said. “Listen. Did you know you’re my best friend?”
I smiled. “Yeah.”
